At the end of July some of the girls in the 5th Northampton Girls’ Brigade Company got together for two fun days organised by the leaders. On Thursday the 25th the hottest day of the year, we went to Cadbury World, travelling by train. Everyone had a great chocolate experience and set out for the journey home happy and excited. Soon after we boarded our first train we began to realise that there were problems on the railways due to the heat. When we got to Birmingham New Street we spent a very long time there until we got on a train to Coventry which was a bit nearer home. Eventually with the use of a minibus, help from some parents and some being able to get on an overcrowded train everyone got home – three hours later than planned. The girls were brilliant throughout and behaved wonderfully. The leaders were very proud of them. A special thanks to those parents that helped us out. The second of our fun days on the 26th went a lot more smoothly. NAYC provided some games for the girls which proved popular, there were also crafts and lots of cooking. The older girls made lunch for everyone which was delicious and in the afternoon everyone went to Riverside Hub and the girls had lots more fun using the play equipment.
